Bert Boom is the Director of Customer Service "Parts" at Yanmar, one of the largest manufacturers of industrial diesel engines.

"Anyone can shift boxes around, but when it comes to setting up complicated logistical routes it becomes more interesting knowing who you're talking to. Van Duuren and I help one another to go forward.

The number of countries and consignments that Yanmar calls on Van Duuren Districenters to deal with is growing constantly. For example, Stef Blommaart of Van Duuren and I have been to Japan to sign contracts for the transport of components that Kanzaki, one of Yanmar's sister companies, produces. Prior to that, Stef and I had intensive consultations to plan the logistics. The result is a well thought-out construction in which the VAT formalities, the import documents and the times at which the transport has to take place all play a crucial role.

Actually I was only an intermediary in setting up this route. In the most important contacts between Kanzaki and Van Duuren, Yanmar was involved only indirectly. However, it was useful to be part of it. After all, it's also to my advantage that the logistics of our sister organization run smoothly. Furthermore, the consultations with Stef were inspiring."
