Shortage of transport capacity makes good planning essential

As you know, we like to keep you abreast of the developments in our sector. In recent months the Netherlands been confronted with a shortage of capacity: the recession has meant that many transport companies have found it necessary to make cutbacks. Now that the economy is picking up once more, the demand for transport is greater than the availability.

As a result of the shortage of transport capacity, we ask that you advise us of your proposed consignments as soon as you possibly can. In this way we shall continue to be able to ensure that your goods are delivered to their destinations on the required date. Such advance warning is particularly important in the case of parcel goods and part-loads, especially in the following situations:
• When you have a consignment with a particular delivery date;
• When you have a high-volume consignment;
• When a number of consignments must be delivered at the same time;
• When you have a consignment of an exceptional, non-standard size.

The substantial increase in the demand for transport capacity has led to a considerable increase in the costs being faced by the transport world. As a result, it is possible that Van Duuren Districenters too might have to adjust the agreed tariffs as of 1 January 2011 .
